Emigrating from India, Dr. Madhavan Pisharodi settled in the United States in 1977. After doing his residency at the University of Texas in Galveston in 1986, he spent two years in a private practice in Mississippi before calling Brownsville his home. Dr. Pisharodi specializes in surgical and non-surgical treatments of the Spine, Brain and the Peripheral nerves.
Besides providing neurosurgical services to the Brownsville community, Dr. Pisharodi’s work in research and innovation has been recognized nationally. He is probably the only neurosurgeon in private practice who has obtained approval from the Food and Drug Administration to market three Spine implants without getting any grant or subsidy from a government entity. Apart from getting FDA approval on these devices, Dr. Pisharodi has patented 21 new devices and procedures which he intends to introduce to the medical community in the future. All these innovations are a result of his dedication to improve the standards in spine care.
Dr. Pisharodi has given many national and international presentations on a wide range of topics, including a new procedure for the management of low back pain called Lumbar Intervertebral Disk Stabilization Technique.
In April, 2008 Dr. Pisharodi opened the doors to his new state-of-the-art office in Brownsville. The office is well equipped to perform minor surgical procedures like Epidural Pain Blocks, Trigger Points, Dorsal Column Stimulators, etc. with state-of-the-art equipment including C-Arm machines.
The office, besides housing Dr. Pisharodi’s Clinic, also houses Valley International Disease Prevention Center managed by Cathryn L. Garnett (Family Nurse Practitioner) for treating acute and chronic diseases. VIP Clinic also specializes in providing Botox, Fillers, Physical Examinations and provides special weight loss programs.
The premises also houses Brownsville Back School and Pain Management Center, which offers outpatient Physical Therapy and is well equipped with the latest therapy equipment.
